Boracay is a tropical island surrounded by stunning white sand beaches and clear blue waters located about an hour's flight from Cebu or Manila just off the larger Philippines island of Panay.

For beach connoisseurs, Boracay competes with the best beaches in more popular destinations such as the Caribbean and the South Pacific as well as neighboring Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. For those wanting to just lounge around and top up their tan, beachfront hotels usually have lounge chairs set up just a few steps away from the hotel entrances. The more active will appreciate water sports and activities such as sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, diving and jet skiing. The fun in Boracay doesn't end when the sun sets. The nightlife pulsates with many bars and restaurants serving food, drink and fun until the wee hours of dawn.

At only 4.5 miles long, Boracay is small enough to navigate by rented bicycle or motorbike. But don't let its small size fool you—you'll have several excellent beaches to choose from. Yapak Beach is known for beautiful white shells; White Beach has picture-perfect sunsets; and Balinghai Beach is a secluded spot, perfect for honeymooners. As long as you visit during dry season, you'll agree this is one of the best beach destinations in the world.

Though exploring the island by foot is still by far the best and most environmentally supportive way to get around Boracay, rental tricycles (about USD5 per hour) are readily available if you wish to get off your feet. Mountain bikes, ATVs, and motor bikes are also available for rent. For those who yearn to circumnavigate the island by sea, paraws (native sailboats), kayaks, and motorized outrigger boats are widely available for both hourly and daily rentals. Don’t be afraid to explore the island; just the small size of Boracay would make it difficult to get lost in, but the friendly helpfulness of the people makes it almost impossible. No matter where you end up, you will at most be only a few hours away from where you started. (Boracay.com, n.d.) (Boracay.com, Explore the Island, 2017) http://boracay.com/explore-the-island/
